(AP Photo/Patrick Semansky)

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) Maryland interim coach Matt Canada has taken steps to ensure that the Terrapins are poised to deal with the heat of summer during his practices following the death of offensive lineman Jordan McNair.

In the first workout since Maryland publicly accepted responsibility for mistakes that contributed to McNair's death, two tents were in the place at the practice field Wednesday to provide shade. Underneath the awnings are several fans, along with liquids and ice.

Practice sessions have been shortened to less than two hours, with time for breaks.

Grier hoping to lift WVU atop Big 12

Maybe Will Grier can do at West Virginia what Baker Mayfield did with Oklahoma before going to the NFL.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) The Urban Meyer investigation is costing Ohio State $500,000, but whether the superstar football coach keeps his job still comes down to whether the university wants to stick with him based on how he's already been tainted by the scandal.

DE Burns enjoying new Florida St. scheme

Brian Burns believes his drop in sack totals from his freshman year to 2017 was more about him than opponents.

The Florida State defensive end had just 4.5 sacks a year after he had a breakout 9.5-sack debut season in 2016. But the 6-foot-5, 231-pound pass rusher is almost incredulous when asked if he thought offensive lineman had figured out how to defend him.

Boise the one to beat in MWC's 20th year

DENVER (AP) Boise State could very well make this a memorable 20th season for the Mountain West Conference.

Extremely memorable, perhaps. Because if things go just right and break just so, the Broncos may be in the conversation for the College Football Playoff.

Clemson aims for 4th straight ACC title

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) Clemson coach Dabo Swinney isn't changing how the Tigers approach each season - and there's no reason he should.
