'Hawks ban 4 from games for racist taunt

CHICAGO (AP) The Chicago Blackhawks have banned four fans from their home games for directing racist taunts toward Washington Capitals forward Devante Smith-Pelly.

The Blackhawks also apologized to Smith-Pelly and the Capitals.

"Racist comments and other inappropriate behavior are not tolerated by the Chicago Blackhawks," team spokesman Adam Rogowin said Monday in an email to The Associated Press.

Flyers acquire G Mrazek from Red Wings

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Petr Mrazek is going from being a backup goaltender on a losing team to a starting job for a playoff contender.

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired Mrazek from the Detroit Red Wings for two conditional draft picks on Monday night, a day after losing their second goalie to injury in less than 10 days.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Alex Ovechkin can stop fretting about what the Washington Capitals captain described as the worst game of his career.

He and the Capitals were much better in a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Monday, two days after a 7-1 meltdown at Chicago.

Marchand lifts Bruins over Flames in OT

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) After a blip in Vancouver, the Boston Bruins got right back to business.

Brad Marchand scored his 22nd goal 3:36 into overtime to give Boston a 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Monday, less than 48 hours after the Bruins lost 6-1 to the Canucks.

Arvidsson's 2 goals get Preds by Sens

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Nashville's power play is back, and the Predators are back in first place.

Viktor Arvidsson scored twice to reach 20 goals this season, and the Predators beat the Ottawa Senators 5-2 on Monday night.

CHICAGO (AP) The Los Angeles Kings have owned the third period this season. The first period has been a bit of an adventure, but it's coming around.

Torrey Mitchell and Andy Andreoff scored during Los Angeles' dominant start, and the Kings held off the Chicago Blackhawks for a 3-1 victory Monday night.

Jackets' Foligno to miss 1-2 weeks

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Columbus Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno will miss one to two weeks with a lower-body injury.

Foligno was injured in Sunday's 5-2 loss to Pittsburgh. After the game, teammate Cam Atkinson said Foligno was cut by a skate.

Capitals get D Kempny from Blackhawks

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) The Washington Capitals have acquired defenseman Michal Kempny in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The 27-year-old Kempny had a goal and six assists in 31 games for Chicago this season. He can become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
